Interesting move by Channel 4 today, who have announced that they have agreed a deal with Youtube to publish full length shows like Peep Show & Skins soon after they have been broadcast in the UK.
You have to assume that Channel 4 have agreed a deal with Google for a share of any advertising revenue. Questions will also be asked about the future of Channel 4’s equivalent of the iplayer if this is a success. Surely it would be more cost effective for Channel 4 to push all it’s online content out through Youtube.
However the big question has to be will others broadcasters follow and is this the development that Google needs to get them into our living rooms?
